The territorial lines were stated by Anet that they would move about every hour. I'm not sure what you mean when you say if one side got absorbed...?

If you mean completely overtaken, the answer is that it simply cannot happen. Mission areas and Cities (HzH and Cavalon) cannot be taken, period.

Normally the line changes every 3 hours. Completely taking over an area won't happen.

I think he means that all luxon city's are for example Kurzick controlled. So that everything on the map is blue(the cities which are controleable).
I don't know what Anet would do if that would happen. I guess nothing, because Luxon might get it back the next day anyway...

if one side would get full attention leaving the other side empty? I Doubt that it will happen anytime soon atleast. If you want to see a deserted PvP area go to Jade Quarry (don't know how it looks now). And ANet hasn't done much about this, ANet can't do much about that.
The only ones that can make Jade Quarry active again are the players. ( Or in some cases double faction weekends )
Edit: Maybe this wasn't what the OP meant and this post can be disregarded in that case
Edit 2: My brain is starting to work better now and the more I think of it my assumption is just wrong so either leave this post be or delete it...

When in doubt, think about the easiest and quickest solution, and that will exactly be what Anet would have implemented

It would be impossible for one side to fully absorb the other for the following reasons:
1. As the line gets pushed further into one sides territory it becomes easier for that side to win Alliance Battles.
2. Capitals such as House Zu Heltzer and Cavalon cannot be captured.
3. Mission Zones cannot be captured.

Simple. Those lands would belong to the Faction that took them... until they reset the lines. They do get reset, every 3 hours, if I recall.

Its probebly reset every day,but id prefer it if they didnt reset, anet should do nothing,if players want there area back they should just retaliate and fight hard, not expect Anet to just give them there lands on a silver plate..
